Services for Industry
The capabilities needed for successful space missions can also be applied to other industries. Our experiences range from hearing aid devices up to paper machines and virtually everything in between. Most of our experiences stem from rotating machinery. We are sure that we can also support you. Try to challenge us, send us a request! Our experts are glad to visit you at your premises to understand your needs.

Qualification and Quality Testing
Natural frequencies depend on little details of the structure. Therefore, the measurement of natural frequencies enables often a very fast and reliable way for qualification or quality tests. Ask our experts!

Experimental Stress Analysis
Stress analyses are done nowadays by Finite Element Analyses (FEA). The correctness of the FEA depends on the underlying assumptions and on the simulation model details. Especially, when it comes to dynamics, it is not easy to make the assumptions and the model physically correct. It is strongly recommended to verify the results by measurements. This can be done by measuring strain of the structure itself and by measuring the loads, displacements, thermal cycles, impacts etc. the structure has to sustain. Many pitfalls wait here for the unexperienced user. Ask our experts! We are glad to help.

Noise and Vibration Troubleshooting
Everything vibrates! Often the vibrations are not disturbing, but in many cases, vibrations disturb, decrease the efficiency, influence the product quality detrimentally or even cause damages and in worst cases fatal accidents. Good physical understanding of cause and consequence, a systematic approach to troubleshooting and broad experiences help to solve dynamic and acoustic issues efficiently and effectively. Many consultants offer measurements of noise and vibration and produce colourful plots. Our role is also to understand the root cause and to develop countermeasures which will enable you to solve your problem.

Development of lightweight structures and mechanisms
The requirements for space structures are very high, because space missions are extremely expensive, complex and challenging. Furthermore, any failure can have catastrophic consequences. Therefore, space structures are optimized to their extremes and undergo rigorous testing. Te Pūnaha Ātea – Space Institute experiences gained from space missions can help you in your product development. Talk to us! We are glad to support.
